Gentle pet dental care is available for Riverview, Brandon, Bloomingdale, Ybor City, Tampa Bay, and Wesley Chapel, FL

Most pet owners in the Riverview, Brandon, Bloomingdale, Ybor City, Tampa Bay, and Wesley Chapel, FL area would like their companions to have cleaner, healthier mouths. Yet, they do not want to put their pets through emotionally or physically traumatic treatment. At Pavilion Crossing Animal Hospital, dental care for cats and dogs is low stress for everyone involved.

How our doctors make pet dental care gentle

Our team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians use advanced techniques to perform thorough yet non-traumatic cat and dog teeth cleanings.

Your pet is lightly sedated to induce a calm mental and physical state. This allows the clinician to complete oral care better and more quickly. Vital signs and wellbeing are carefully monitored while your pet is under anesthesia.

An ultrasonic scaler minimizes the need for manual scraping. This device removes hardened tartar, the sticky film of plaque, and oral bacteria with sound waves. The loosened debris is flushed with a stream of antibacterial rinse or water. With this highly effective method of dog and cat teeth cleaning, the risk of damage to tooth structure is greatly reduced.

Our team also provides guidance for improved at-home pet dental care, including tooth-healthy nutrition and chew toys, daily brushing, and water additives for reduced risk of periodontal disease.

Benefits of pet dental care

  • Reduced risk of serious disease – Periodontal disease is linked to grave health problems in pets, such as diabetes and heart conditions. The therapeutic action of the ultrasonic scaler reaches below the gum line, disrupting bacterial populations that give your pet inflamed, tender, and bleeding gums from gingivitis.
  • Improved quality of life – Regular cleaning helps maintain healthy dog/cat teeth and reduces dental problems. These appointments are the doctor’s opportunity to intercept potential issues early, so your pet does not needlessly suffer pain, infection, or tooth loss.
  • Cost-effective – The expense of just one emergency dental procedure or lifetime medications for a preventable condition can easily exceed the cost of routine dental care for your pet. Plus, you avoid the emotional strain of those situations.
  • Easier to live with – No matter how much you love your pet, you probably don’t love foul breath. Regular dog and cat dental health care keep breath fresher. Sparkling teeth even help your pet look younger.
