Puppy and Kitty Care

Riverview veterinarians offers services and tips for puppy and kitty care

Congratulations! You have decided to add a new companion to your family. Pets, especially baby puppies and kitties, come with new responsibilities. Our team of veterinarians and staff offer services for puppy and kitty care in Riverview. Our tips and services are designed to help keep your new companion healthy.

How to take care of baby puppies and kitties

When you decide to add a new pet to your family, certain necessities, supplies, and routines are required. The following tips can help you prepare for a new addition:

  • Pet supplies – The basic supplies for pets include food and water bowls, bedding, and a few toys. Puppies need a leash and collar. For a kitten, you need a litter box, mat, and kitty litter. You may also consider a post or toys to encourage appropriate scratching.
  • Feeding – We recommend using a high-quality food that is designed toward your pet’s age, activity level, and health. Treats should be less than 5-10% of your kitten or puppy’s diet. Fresh, clean water should always be available.
  • Identification – Your pets should wear collars with ID tags. The tags should include the pet’s name and your phone number. You may also consider having your pet microchipped for additional safety.
  • Bedding – Indoor pets should have their own warm, dry places to sleep. Wash blankets, towels, or pet beds regularly.
